Step 4 - Shading

Shading helps us create depth in a drawing. Since we are skipping past a flat cartoon style, we will need to shade. Shading is just drawing many lines next to one another to create blocks of "color" (Tints and shades in our case) Use the side of your pencil for more solid looking blocks.

I chose to "hatch" my shading (repeating quick short lines to create a shaded pattern) I used it to add strands of hair and to build the shape of the nose and the mouth.
